QuickBooks asks for a password when trying to edit an old invoice

If you are trying to edit an old invoice and QuickBooks is asking you for a password, this means that you are trying to edit a “Closed” period in your books.  This password is separate from your QuickBooks login password to prevent making accidental changes to a period that has already been reconciled.

Making minor changes to the invoice such as changing the due date or adding text to memo field won’t hurt anything but making changes to the invoice date, line items and/or amount will change your reports for the period.

Email us a brief explanation of the changes that you wish to make and we either make the adjustment for you or provide the password.

Please note that if you make any changes using the password that result in needing to clean up your books, there will be a separate charge.
